What are PDO Threads?

A PDO (Polydioxanone) is a super absorbable synthetic monofilament thread that is used in medical suturing.  PDO threads are used to create a natural formation of the collagen which gives a long term non-surgical-facelift. The PDO threads that are strategically placed to stimulate collagen help create a subtle face lift which happens over a few months.

How it Works

There are no cuts, no change in your looks and this procedure is very affordable. However, there is need for topical and local anesthesia. You can get as little or as much of these non-invasive thin filaments placed under skin (depending on the results wanted) by a skincare specialist at Malik Medical Aesthetics.  The procedure is quite simple even though it may not sound that way, it is quite similar to dermal fillers except a thread is left behind instead of a filler. This procedure works with the skin’s ability to heal itself naturally. By inserting the thread the skin will go into healing mode and create new collagen to do so. PDO threading is commonly used on the upper neck, jowls, and cheeks, but can also be used on other saggy areas of the body including arms, thighs and stomach.

Who is a Good Candidate?

A good candidate for PDO threads is one who has minimal signs of aging and wrinkles and just simply need a lift to reduce the appearance of sagging and or droopiness. It is also good for candidates who do not want to go under the knife and want a more simple and natural fix.

The results are natural looking and can be seen after 1-2 weeks with the results increasing over the next few weeks as the skin produces more collagen to help dissolve the threads. The threads usually dissolve after 3-4 months.
