Natural-Looking Lip Augmentation

Collagen is a protein that supports the body’s soft tissue, including the lips. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, which can cause physical signs of aging around your mouth.

Thankfully, lip augmentation can help plump up the lips and smooth wrinkles and lines around your lips to give you a younger, healthier look. Lip augmentation can also help those of us who were born with a less then full lip & are looking to increase size.

At Malik Medical Aesthetics, we are proud to offer our clients various lip augmentation treatments:

  • Lip fillers made with hyaluronic acid, a sugar that makes the lips look full and shapely, or calcium hydroxylapatite, which stimulates collagen production
  • Fat transfer, which uses your body’s own fat tissue to give your lips structure and volume
  • Silicone implants, which are soft silicon tubes that can give your lips the perfect shape

What Is Lip Augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure designed to give lips more shape, volume, and structure, in order to give the face a youthful, revitalized look.

While lip augmentation can be especially beneficial for patients with thin lips, anyone who wants fuller lips can undergo the procedure.

The most popular lip augmentation procedures use FDA-approved dermal fillers formulated with hyaluronic acid, and lip fillers with collagen or collagen-stimulating substances. At Malik Medical Aesthetics, we offer not only these fillers, but also more long-lasting alternatives: silicone implants and fat transfer.

Lip Fillers

At Malik Medical Aesthetics, we offer multiple fillers for lip augmentation. Your provider will discuss which one is best for you based on the desired outcome. Our lip injections provide natural-looking results, with short recovery time and little to no down time.

Silicone Implants and Fat Transfer

At Malik Medical Aesthetics, we not only offer dermal fillers, but also silicone implants and fat transfer. Compared to dermal fillers, these treatments are more long-lasting.

Silicone Lip Implants

Silicone implants are small silicone tubes. They are soft enough to feel natural, and are specially shaped to both match and enhance the existing shape of your lips. The implantation surgery is relatively short, about a30 min long. The implants may be appealing for people who feel that lip fillers do not last long enough.

Fat Transfer for Lips

Fat transfer is a long-lasting treatment that involves removing fat tissue from your abdomen or thighs, and then carefully implanting small droplets of the tissue into the lip area. This can add volume to the lips and reshape them, as well as smooth lines and wrinkles around your lips. Small amounts of the fat may be reabsorbed, and slight swelling and bruising may also occur, so the final result of fat transfer can be best seen a few weeks after the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is lip augmentation safe?

The FDA has approved Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk for people twenty-one years or older. Hyaluronic acid fillers are unlikely to cause bruises or allergic reactions, and calcium hydroxylapatite also carries a low risk for allergic reaction. Rare complications of silicone lip implants can include implant rejection, implant migration, infection, scarring, or stiffness in the lips. Extremely rarely, fat transfer may cause fat embolization, or small amounts of fat may enter a blood vessel.

How long do lip fillers last?

The duration of the effects of lip fillers depends on your own body and how fast you metabolize them.

What to expect after lip filler injections?

The injections may cause some swelling, though when the swelling occurs and how long it lasts will depend on the filler used, your own body & the amount of volume added.

What to expect after silicone lip implants?

Full recovery should last two weeks at most. It is normal to experience swelling, discomfort, and redness after this surgery for about a week. For the first four to seven days after the surgery, you should avoid chewing and only consume soft foods. You should avoid exercise or other forms of physical exertion for two weeks after the surgery.

What to expect after fat transfer lip augmentation?

Results of fat transfer lip augmentation are immediately visible. Immediately after the procedure, the lips may seem overfull due to swelling and the fact that some of the fat will be reabsorbed. Swelling will last for two to three weeks, with the most extreme swelling occurring during the first week. You may have minor soreness at the extraction site from which the fat was taken for a few days. Fat transfer requires very little downtime; after such a procedure, you will likely be able to return to your normal routine within a day. There is typically little discomfort associated with fat transfer injections except for minor soreness at the site from which the fat was originally taken.
